Initiated by ad hoc committee composed of pastors of the district led by Pastor Carol Flores and deaconess Felipina Irenea planned the summer camp for the young people for the district with acting president Alexis Parco of Atimonan UMC. The Camp was held last May 21 – 23, 2012 at Quezon UMC of the town of Quezon in the island of Alabat, Quezon Province.
About 50 young people from all the churches of the district attended the camp with their pastors and one deaconess. It followed the theme of “Discipleship through the ages”, Rev. Roel Pia (Alabat UMC) and Rev. Mervin Anthony Montano (Lucena Mission) gave the lecture on “Discipleship: calling and responding” and “Peer and Friendship Mentoring” respectively. There also group dynamics facilitated by Pastor Carol Flores who served as the camp adviser.
A District Youth Conference was also held were the UMYF elected their officers for the district. And the following where elected for the conference year 2012 – 2013: Joshua Arevalo (Alabat UMC) as president; Key Marie Garcia (Lopez Mission) as vice president; Ruriza Cajefe (Atimonan UMC) as secretary; Renante (Alabat UMC) as Finance Officer; Kiela Chavarria (Atimonan UMC) as Information , Communications and Resource Dept. head; Rachel Daen (Atimonan UMC) as Christian Nurture and Formation dept head; Ryan Chavarria (Atimonan UMC) as Finance dept head; and appointed Malvin Magpantay (Lopez Mission) as Ecumenical, Church and Society Affairs dept head. Alex Parco who was appointed annual conference UMYF officer and acting district officer presided the conference. Mae Angela Pealane (Atimonan UMC) was elected annual conference officer.
Pastor Victor Diokno as pastor of Quezon UMC serves as host to the camp with women members of the church with the wife of Pastor Vic – Linda Diokno serves in prepares the food for the camp and Pastor Mirriam Chavarria as head of the kitchen staff.
