The Lopez Mission located in the town proper of Lopez, Quezon has transferred in its new and more spacious worship house on Barranggay Gomez in Lopez, Quezon. They transferred to a vacant house near the railway in Baranggay Gomez and the prince for the rent was cheaper. The house has two floors though of the same lot area with their former house church. But the property has a large backyard that the whole lot is around 200 square meters in size.
Inspite of limited resources of the annual conference and the district the Lopez Mission continues for almost 20 years as its members are faithful to the ministry of the church. Currently, Pastor Vincent Pacto – a young pastor who himself also a college student is the pastor assigned in Lopez mission. He is taking up Education course in one of the University in the town.
Lopez Mission is the product of mission work of Calauag UMC a nearby town of Calauag, Quezon. It is believed that the mission work began as fulfillment of the pastor’s dream of conducting a worship service near a railway. Currently, the Lopez Mission is supported by the district supplying its pastor and also providing funds for house rental for worship and parsonage. Majority of the church members have no regular job and most of its members are young people.
Along with Calauag UMC they are also hoping one day they would have their permanent church sanctuary and lot. They are planning to raise funds for the church lot and building.
