The newly appointed district superintendent for both Laguna and Quezon Districts Rev. Nazzer Oliveros presided over the adjourned session of the Quezon District Conference held at the Atimonan UMC last June 3, 2017.
An opening worship service was held before the session starts where Rev. Marven Chavarria the new administrative pastor of Atimonan UMC gave the meditation. Filling of vacant positions was made during the election and welcomed the two new pastors in the Quezon District namely Rev. Marven Chavarria and Rev. Leonora Macaday who is assigned in Simbayanm UMC (Mauban, Quezon) and Dalahican Mission (Lucena City). Rev. Mervin Montano was assigned in Kalinangan UMC in Calauag, Quezon.
The session also receives the report of the Connectional Ministries of the annual conference which will be the comprehensive program for the annual conference for quadrennium (4 years). The Connectional Ministry is the body in the annual conference that coordinate its programs and activities. The District Conference also adopts the said structure that will replace the Council of Ministries which acts the same function.
DS Nazzer envisions the district to be the happiest district in the Philippines pursuing to be happy, holy and healthy working together for mission and transformation of the world. He will give emphasis in the implementation of the United Methodist Church – Disciples of Christ (UMC DOC) program which focus on strengthening small group ministries in the local church.
