DS Nazzer Oliveros delivers his first State of the District Address at the Quezon District Conference 2018

Nazzer Oliveros, the district superintendent of Quezon District delivers his first and valedictory address at the district conference held at Atimoman UMC in Atimonan, Quezon last Feb. 10, 2018. He laid his vision the district in reflection of his 10 year in the pastoral ministry. The main concern is that the district would grow and support fully its own ministries with less outside support.

He acknowledges persons who have help the district though their monthly support for the churches. He put emphasis on continuing basic discipleship program for the district which includes personal daily devotion, prayer and care group system. His address was supported by the Laity Address deliverd by Aniceto “Jun” Nieva Jr. of the Atimonan UMC and thank the church workers suporting the ministry of the churches. Though Jun Nieva resigned, the laity elected Jester Querubin also from Atimonan UMC as the new lay leader.

The Conference receives reports from its ministries and committees including new churches workers. Daisy Francia who is volunteering in Simbayan UMC was accepted as local pastor. Josue Maniego from Kalinangan UMC in Calauag, Quezon was also accepted as local pastor. John Mark Ibanez of Quezon UMC and Jan Reeve Talida of General Luna was accepted as new student local pastors. This new local pastors will be approved if they pass the interview of the Board of Ordained Ministry and to be accepted during the annual conference session to be held in March this year. Pastor Carol Flores who was long serving in the district and the conference was now accepted as provisional member of the Conference soon to be ordained.

Before the District Conference, an opening worship service was held and Rev. Marven Chavarria gave the meditation based on the Transfiguration of Jesus Christ.
